SPS PoolCare, a Storr Group portfolio company, reported its 150th acquisition on August 6, 2025, its 191st with Pool Troopers on January 23, 2026, and more than 220 by July 7, 2026, serving more than 50,000 weekly recurring customers in Texas, Florida, Arizona, Nevada and Georgia (SPS PoolCare, SPS PoolCare, SPS PoolCare).

Heritage Pool Supply Group reported 23 acquisitions from its 2021 inception through 2024, while its own press release page names 6 deals in that window, so the registry captures about 26.1% of them (Heritage).

Pool service route companies are the most frequent targets of private equity and investor-backed platforms in 2025 and 2026.
Pool service route companies are the most frequent targets of private equity and investor-backed platforms in 2025 and 2026.

Private equity versus public companies in pool industry acquisitions

Public companies (POOLCORP, Leslie’s, Latham, Hayward, Pentair, Fluidra and The Home Depot) account for 55.1% of U.S. pool targets from 2015 to 2026. Private equity and investor-backed platforms account for 34.8% of all targets but 76.0% of 2025 and 2026 targets, and none of POOLCORP, Leslie’s, Latham, Hayward, Pentair or Fluidra disclosed a U.S. pool acquisition in 2026 in filings or releases available on October 6, 2026.

  • Storr Group backs SPS PoolCare, which says it has made more than 220 acquisitions since 2021 (SPS PoolCare).
  • O2 Investment Partners formed a pool services platform from five New York and New Jersey companies in mid-2024 and branded it Azureon in October 2024; Azureon reached 13 acquisitions by August 2026 (O2, O2).
  • Imperial Capital launched National Pool Partners in late 2020 from its Fund VII; National Pool Partners dates its launch to January 2021 (Imperial Capital, National Pool Partners).
  • Pool Service Partners, a Tamarix Equity Partners portfolio company founded in February 2022, operates in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and expected to service more than 8,000 pools in 2025 (Pool Service Partners).
  • Cabana, a portfolio company of Asymmetric Capital Partners since 2023, named six California acquisitions in 2025 and 2026 (Asymmetric Capital Partners, Cabana).
  • Authority Brands, owned by funds advised by Apax Partners, bought pool service franchisor America’s Swimming Pool Company on October 22, 2018 (Authority Brands).
  • Sponsor buyouts: CCMP, MSD Partners and AIMCo acquired Hayward in 2017, and Pamplona Capital Management funds acquired Latham on December 18, 2018; both companies later listed on U.S. exchanges (Hayward 10-K, Latham 10-K).

Public pool companies were active buyers in 2021 and slowed afterward. Leslie’s reported no acquisitions in fiscal 2024 or 2025, Hayward reported no business acquisitions in 2025, and POOLCORP’s 2025 acquisitions were two asset purchases, one of them a stone and hardscape supplier (Leslie’s 10-K, Hayward 10-K, POOLCORP 10-K).

Pool industry acquisition prices: what buyers disclosed

Florida is named in 10 registry entries, including POOLCORP’s Porpoise Pool & Patio (Largo), Heritage’s MT Pool Distributors (Miami) and Aquafinity (Jupiter), and five National Pool Partners service companies (POOLCORP 10-K, Heritage, National Pool Partners).

POOLCORP reported that California, Florida, Texas and Arizona together accounted for approximately 53% of its 2025 net sales, which matches where acquisition activity clusters (POOLCORP 10-K). For the installed base of pools by state, see the number of swimming pools in the U.S. report.

Pool industry acquisitions by POOLCORP, Leslie's, Latham, Hayward, Pentair and Fluidra

Public pool companies disclose acquisitions in annual reports, which makes their records the most complete in the registry. POOLCORP’s list includes non-U.S. and non-pool purchases that are excluded from the U.S. pool counts.

Who buys the most pool companies, and how much of their activity is visible?

Formularegistry targets per acquirer family; coverage = named targets / self-reported total x 100

Inputs: fact rows #1 to #91; context rows #100, #103, #104, #106, #108; derived D49 to D51

Leslie’s (18), POOLCORP (16) and Heritage (9) lead by registry count. Coverage of self-reported totals: SPS PoolCare 1.4% (3 of more than 220), Azureon 53.8% (7 of 13), Heritage 26.1% (6 of 23 through 2024).

Limitations: Self-reported totals are company statements and may count brands or asset purchases differently.

Share of deals with a disclosed value

How often do pool industry acquisitions disclose a price?

Formulatargets by value scope (individual, aggregate, none) / all U.S. pool targets x 100

Inputs: fact rows #1 to #91; derived D28 to D36

14.6% individual price, 18.0% aggregate only, 67.4% none. The 12 individual values excluding SRS sum to $2083.7 million (median $85.2 million).

Limitations: Bases differ by filer; nominal dollars; SRS excluded from sums because it spans several trades.

Geographic concentration of targets

In which states are acquired pool companies located?

Formulacount of registry entries naming each state; share = (FL + TX + AZ + CA mentions) / all mentions x 100

Inputs: fact rows #1 to #91; derived D40 to D48

85 state mentions across 32 states plus DC; Florida 10, California 9, Arizona 7, New York 7, Texas 6, New Jersey 5; the four Sun Belt states hold 37.6%.

Limitations: Entries without a stated location are excluded; multi-state targets count once per state.

Public versus private equity acquirers

Is private equity buying pool companies, and has the mix changed?

Formulatargets by acquirer type at deal date / all targets x 100, for 2015 to 2026, 2015 to 2020, and 2025 to 2026

Inputs: fact rows #1 to #91; derived D22 to D27, D52 to D54

2015 to 2026: public 55.1%, private equity or investor-backed 34.8%, privately held strategic 10.1%. Private equity share rose from 26.7% (2015 to 2020) to 76.0% (2025 to 2026 YTD).

Limitations: Private platforms disclose selectively, so the true private equity share is likely higher than measured.

Leslie's price per acquired location

What did a public pool retailer pay per acquired store?

Formulafiscal-year aggregate purchase price / locations added

Inputs: fact rows #57, #45, #38; derived D37 to D39

$1.11 million per location (fiscal 2021), $3.99 million (fiscal 2022), $1.29 million (fiscal 2023).

Limitations: Aggregates include inventory and other assets and, in fiscal 2022, manufacturing capability; not a valuation benchmark.

How the registry is compiled and checked

  1. Downloaded every Form 10-K filed since 2015 by Pool Corporation, Leslie’s, Latham Group, Hayward Holdings and Pentair from SEC EDGAR (scripts/01 and 02), plus 10-Qs filed in 2025 and 2026 and 8-Ks filed since 2024 (scripts/03), and read each acquisition note.
  2. Pulled 8-K press release exhibits for the largest deals (POOLCORP/Porpoise, Latham/Radiant, Hayward/Halco and ChlorKing) to confirm announcement dates (scripts/05).
  3. Read Fluidra’s regulatory filings to the Spanish CNMV for each U.S. acquisition, which include the press releases and disclosed values.
  4. Read the acquirers’ own press release pages: Heritage Pool Supply Group, O2 Investment Partners, National Pool Partners, Pool Service Partners, and PR Newswire releases issued by SPS PoolCare, Cabana and Authority Brands.
  5. Used 14 Google searches (Serper) to find buyers and the pages to beat; search results were used only to locate primary sources.
  6. Recorded each deal once in scripts/registry_data.py with date, buyer, target, segment, location, value as disclosed, evidence level and source URL; scripts/10_build_package.py builds every table, chart and derived metric from that file.
  7. Checked every number in report.json against facts.csv and derived.csv (verification.md).

Excluded: Deals reported only by trade press (for example CERTUS Pest and National Pool Partners, January 2026), undated releases (two National Pool Partners announcements), adviser announcements, software and non-pool deals (Pentair’s Taco agreement, Fluidra’s Datapool), and Hayward’s 2025 asset acquisitions that were not described as businesses. Non-U.S. targets, minority stakes, platform investments and POOLCORP’s irrigation, landscape and hardscape purchases are listed but not counted. Details in excluded.md.

Conflicting numbers: Where a filing and a release differ, the filing is used and the difference noted: Leslie’s Valley Pool deal (release: six stores including a planned one; 10-K: five locations) and Latham’s Freedom Pools price (10-K: approximately $17.0 million; Q2 2026 10-Q: $15.4 million including holdback). Radiant Pools uses the 10-K price of $90.7 million rather than the release’s approximately $90 million.

Derived metrics: Counts sum the number of targets per entry (Leslie’s fiscal-year rows count each business). Shares divide by the core total of U.S. pool targets. Coverage ratios divide named targets by self-reported totals. Leslie’s per-location figures divide aggregate price by locations added. All formulas and input rows are in derived.csv; scripts/10_build_package.py reproduces them.

Caveats

  • The registry is a floor. Private platforms name a small share of their deals (SPS PoolCare about 1.4% of its stated total), and many small private sales are never announced.
  • Leslie’s names only one acquisition after 2018; fiscal 2021 to 2023 rows are aggregates of unnamed businesses.
  • Deal values use different bases (net of cash, total price, enterprise value, ‘valued at’) and are not comparable as valuations.
  • Three entries rely on company releases reprinted by trade publications (Amenity, Shasta) or an archived copy (Leslie’s 2018 release); Amenity is corroborated by a later SPS PoolCare release.
  • Acquirer type is assigned at the deal date from source statements; ownership of some private buyers is not fully described in the sources.
  • 2026 is year to date through October 6, 2026.

Method last reviewed October 6, 2026.

Registry summary

A new registry from Pool Construction & Service compiles U.S. pool industry acquisitions disclosed in SEC filings, Fluidra’s regulatory filings and buyers’ own press releases from January 2015 to October 6, 2026. It counts 89 U.S. targets across 73 entries. Deals peaked at 21 targets in 2021, when Fluidra, Pentair, Latham and Hayward bought manufacturers and National Pool Partners bought service companies, and reached 16 in 2025. Private equity and investor-backed platforms such as SPS PoolCare, Azureon, Cabana and Pool Service Partners accounted for 76.0% of targets in 2025 and 2026, up from 26.7% in 2015 to 2020. Distribution and service lead by segment with 27 targets each. Prices are rarely public: 67.4% of targets had no disclosed value. SPS PoolCare alone reports more than 220 acquisitions since 2021 but names few, so the registry is a minimum count. Florida is the most frequently named target state.
